The Green Lover's Smoothie Bowl + An Announcement!

in Recipes

In the middle of packing my life away in Arizona, moving to Portland, starting graduate school for Nutrition, figuring out a new city, balancing homework with feeding myself, and creating content for this blog, I was juicing and blending to my heart’s content. Or, more like I was creating 50 juices, 50 smoothies, and photographing and researching each and every one of them.

Why?!!!

I’m so excited to announce that I’m publishing two recipe decks with Deckopedia! Hooray! Deckopedia Publishing is an amazing start-up company founded by a husband and wife in Los Angeles. Their idea was born after a long car trip that lacked a source for fun road trip games. They dreamed up creating a deck of cards with crowd- and kid-approved road trip games and soon decided to create decks that catered to a wide variety of subjects such as sports, health, travel, nutrition, entertainment, and more.

So, I’m creating not one, but two decks for Deckopedia; the first is Super Smoothies: Blending Your Way to Radiant Health and Replenish: A Collection of 50 Hearty Juices and Elixirs. They’re both filled with amazing recipes, whole food and plant based ingredients, nutritional tidbits, health knowledge, and lots and lots of love and vegetables. I used everything from spirulina to reishi powder, collard greens to turmeric, spinach, berries, hemp seeds, coconut, and more. The result is 100 dreamy and nourishing juices and smoothies that I know you all will L O V E. Even better, they’re broken up into categories to fit exactly what kind of smoothie or juice you need. In smoothies you’ll find categories like meal replacement, energizing, stress relieving and more. In juices you’ll find detoxifying, elixirs, glowing skin, digestive friendly, and other wholesome juices. The decks will be out in November, and I’ll keep you posted on the date as it comes closer.

Here’s a little sneak peek of a smoothie that you’ll find in my smoothie deck. It’s a green smoothie bowl filled with all of the goodness for a radiant inside and outside. You’ll find spinach and kale for supreme Vitamin K benefits, protein, iron, and calcium too. The other source of green is spirulina, a blue-green algae that’s bursting with nutritional and detoxifying qualities. Spirulina is a plant source of complete protein, gamma-linolenic acids for heart and joint health, iodine, antioxidants, B Vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc. It’s an extraordinary superfood that should find its way into all your green smoothies from here on out.

Green goodness + algae for health + sweet and tropical mango and banana + beautifying coconut oil + thickening chia seeds + creamy almond milk = the green lover’s bowl and 99 more of where that came from! Yum!
