You will always find bananas in my kitchen; I eat them daily! The delicious creaminess and sweetness of bananas make them excellent in baking, pancakes, vegan ice cream, oatmeal, and smoothies. Bananas are also a great source of energy and a perfect on the go snack.

  • Bananas can make you happy! They contain tryptophan, which is converted in the body into serotonin – the happy mood neurotransmitter.
  • Bananas contain about 30% of our daily requirement of vitamin B-6, which is used in our bodies to grow new cells.
  • Bananas are rich in pectin, a fiber which promotes a happy-healthy digestive system.
  • Bananas are a good source of potassium, which helps to maintain proper heart functions and blood pressure. Potassium also helps to reduce muscle soreness after or before a tough work out.
  • They aid in acidity balance in the body, acting like an anti-acid, to maintain healthy alkaline levels. They are way tastier than Tums, and can prevent uncomfortable stomach issues like acid reflux and ulcers.
  • Bananas are a rich source of prebiotics, which help friendly probiotic bacteria in our gut flourish and grow.

Vegukate Tips:

No needs to buy organic, bananas are protected by their thick peels.

Store bananas at room temperature to ripen. Although bananas can be eaten very yellow if you prefer the taste, they are much sweeter and softer when brown spots begin to appear. Not to mention, bananas with brown spots are much easier on the stomach for digestion, as the banana’s natural sugars have begun breaking down.

Don’t throw away brown bananas! Bake them into breads, muffins, or cookies, or slice them up and store in the freezer for the best addition to smoothies or banana ice cream.
