Lemon
Lemons are incredibly flexible in the kitchen. You can use them to perk up salad dressings, smoothies, juices, pasta, grain dishes, marinades, desserts, and squeezed into water as a detoxifying tonic.
- Lemons are very alkalizing which helps to balance the pH levels in our body. This is important because a crazy, out-of-whack body pH leads to imbalances and an unhappy system.
- Back off bacteria and disease! Lemons are anti-bacterial and antiviral, and can even cure the disease, scurvy.
- All that Vitamin C in lemons helps with proper growth and maintenance of tissues, and is also a superpower in getting rid of free radicals in our body; overreactive molecules that damage DNA, cells, and make us look old. Ugh!
- Lemons act as a detoxifier in our body by stimulating the liver, flushing out unwanted materials, and helping to maintain a pleasant digestive system.

No need to buy organic, lemon’s hard skin keeps them safe.
Even though it sounds crazy, try storing lemons in the refrigerator in a sealed plastic bag. This keeps lemons juicy and fresh for up to a month. If you plan on using lemons right away, they can be left out at room temperature for about a week.
