Pumpkin Spiced Smoothie

in Recipes

Here’s a bit of a downer: Starbucks’ pumpkin spice lattés, the absolute signaler of the autumn season, have absolutely no pumpkin in them. At all.

Ew.

Instead, pumpkin spice lattés are made with artificial caramel colors derived from chemicals, an obscene amount of refined sugars including high fructose corn syrup, ambiguous natural flavors made from tasty things like petroleum, condensed conventional milk, weird preservatives, and a host of other things that do not make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Speaking of that sugar, the Grande sized pumpkin spice latté has more sugar than nearly 5 Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts; the doughnuts have 10 gram each, while the PSL delivers 49 grams. Yikes.

It’s such a bummer, right?

So instead of pouting over the faux-pumpkin latté, let’s make our own pumpkin spiced beverage in a smoothie version instead. Because my fall days are still on the warmer side, a pumpkin spiced smoothie is ideal and so delicious. This smoothie actually has real pumpkin, (yay Vitamin A!) plus other goodies like frozen banana, almond butter, and spices to create the taste of autumn.

This smoothie is absolutely delicious and will be one of your favorite new ways to enjoy the amazing flavors of pumpkin spice. Whatever Starbucks.
