Chocolate Banana Shake

Oh my gosh… let’s talk about the wonders of this vegan Chocolate Banana Shake.
It’s AMAAAAZING. It’s delicious. It tastes like the most indulgent, sinful, and creamy treat in the whole entire world! …I could go on and on, but first, I need to dampen the mood with another well-known shake.
Have you ever had a Frosty from Wendy’s fast food restaurants?
You know, the one you dip your salty fries in?
The one that’s so thick you need to eat it with a spoon?
The one that seems so simple, yet has 15 ingredients? (milk, sugar, cream, nonfat dry milk, corn syrup, whey, cocoa, dextrose, guar gum, gellulose gum, gono and diglycerides, carrageenan, disodium phosphate, artificial and natural flavors)
And the one that’s packing in so much sugar, it’s a bit insane. A small chocolate Wendy’s Frosty contains 46 grams, while a large has 80 grams of sugar. OMG.
Here’s something way better. I’ve made you a chocolate shake that tastes a million times more amazing than a Wendy’s Frosty, contains no dairy, no added and refined sugar, and no nasty additives. This shake is filled with the most nutritious, wholesome, and delicious ingredients, and will keep you energized and happy for hours. Bananas provide a boost of potassium and prebiotics, almond butter is great for nourishing your body with healthy fats, cacao is a concentrated source of antioxidants, and maca powder provides essential minerals, vitamins, and plant sterols for cholesterol lowering benefits.
Hello Chocolate Banana Shake!
P.S. You can still dip your fries in this one too. I won’t judge.
Chocolate Banana Shake
Serves 1
3/4 cup unsweetened nondairy milk (coconut and almond milk are perfect)
2 bananas, frozen (they have to be frozen in order to make the shake, shake-like)
1 big T almond butter
1 big T cacao powder
1 T maca powder (optional)
Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth and creamy, about 30 seconds. Enjoy!
Oh my gosh, when you list out the ingredients to a Frosty it just sounds so gross! I think this version is much, much better, and the idea of adding maca for a malty touch is just perfect. Thanks for the recipe!
Katie, I know right!? I hope you love it!
Oh my! I think I’ve found a healthier alternate for my favorite chocolate and banana ice cream/shake. Thank you!
Just wanted to let you know that this and the other chocolate shake are delicious. Big yum from the Midwest.
